Pelatihan kali ini diikuti 92 peserta dari berbagai perusahaan dan instansi terkait. Prof Julius van der Werf yang menjadi narasumber langsung menampilkan “Wrap up Modul 1” yang menyangkut to day‘s plan, desicions in breeding programs, animal breeding in nutshell, question breeding objectives, question (trait) measurement, design example, identifity the breeding program in you case.
Julius menyoroti tentang SNI (Standar Nasional Indonesia) untuk sapi pedaging dengan beberapa pertanyaan lanjutan dan dianalisis dengan logical process, breeding objactives trait and selection criteria traits dan which traits in the selection index.
Adapun peserta yang mewakili grup 2, Agung dari BBTUHPPT (Balai Besar Ternak Unggul & HPT) Baturaden, mempresentasikan Breeding Program (case study from BBTUHPPT Baturaden farm) dengan topik The traits of Saanen Goat, menyangkut increase the milk production, economic contribution andviability, population Saanen from July dan distribution of Saanen on 2021 (male, female and location), yang langsung ditanggapi oleh Lecture Shool of Envirnental and Rural Science UNE, Dr Samuel Clark.
Peserta berikutnya mewakili grup 4, Yayu Kholifah dari BBIB (Balai Besar Inseminasi Buatan) Singosari Malang, mempresentasikan “Breeding Program: Genetic Improvement for Beef Cattle (Performance Test)” menyangkut traits to be considered (body weight, body length, girth, shoulder height and scrotal circumference/bull), related or correlated traits (direct related trait body weight, correlatedtraits body weight, girth, shouder height and scrotal circumference/bull, all these traits should be recorded at birth, weaning, 1 year olds and 2 years olds, pedigreegrandsire, grandam, sire and dam), other consideration (culture, market).
Sementara peserta selanjutnya mewakili grup 5, Irma dari beef cattle memprentasikan dengan topik “Breeding Objectives of Kebumen Ongole Crossbreed (PO) Cattle” menyangkut identifity the traits to be considered, weather these traits will be measured orinformed by correlated traits, is the SNI suitable as a breeding objective dan other consideration about breeding objective.
Pada acara question & answer, Julius dibantu Samuel Clark menjawab keseluruhan pelatihan dari peserta. Pelatihan terus akan dilanjutkan pada Agustus-September 2021 mendatang.
